 Rothesay/Port Bannatyne Walk, with a wee bit Extra.
Mileage = 1.25.
Klmtrs= 2.01.

This is an addition to this walk, giving you a chance to see more of The Port, without taxing you too much.

When you come to gate (5) on the “Rothesay / Port Bannatyne walk, instead of going right, go left, heading up Bannantyne Mains Road which leads up to the Golf Club. As you near the clubhouse, head right along a path which is called “The Garrison Track”. This will eventually lead you to the “Castle Brae”, so called as it is very near “Kames Castle”. Just before you come to the pavement, go right on to what was once the route that the Trams took many years ago. The cliffs on your right have fantastic Icicles during any very cold spells that we may endure, but take care if you are on this walk at that time, making sure that you do not go below them as they sometimes are up to three feet long ,0.91 metres and may fall on you as they get heavier and heavier. Head along this track until you can see its end, the go left onto the Playing Fields. There is a toilet just as you leave the fields. Cross over the road and go right till you come to the “Port Bannatyne War Memorial” then go left until you come to a lamppost bearing the Sign “ARDBEG”. If you look to your right, that is where another walk joins yours, coming down from the “Burn Lane”. From this point head along the pavement that you are on and you will eventually get back to Rothesay.

PS.” Burn” is another name for a stream, but only used in UK north (Scotland) according to my dictionary
