ISLAND LIFE

More images for you to see.  Male and Female Common Blue Butterflies.

There is not much common about these are they are absolutely lovely, more so the male, with it's bright blue on it's upper wings, and lovely patterns on the underside, which at times you will not see. The female is the same as the male underneath, but very little blue ,if any, above.

I have had images of these for many years, but they were not good enough for you to see, but on the 21st of June this year, (the summer solstice) between the Scoulag Moor and the Mountstuart reservoir, I was delighted after following a pair of males around in circles, getting very poor and far away images, I managed to get what you see now, a smashing image of the male. The female I got on the way back, so you will see how I was well pleased with myself.
Wandering about endlessly trying to get good images is part of life if you want to get good shots, which can take ages to get, and yet there are times that you get the best shot sometimes right away. I suppose it is like fishing, having plenty of patience, and hopefully dry weather, sandwiches, flask of coffee, etc, etc.

As long as the end product is worthwhile for the Buteman to print and for you to read, then I am more than happy .
